In the spring of 2019, I started my nonprofit company, Aspect Computers for Those in Need. The main goal was to donate computer setups to those who do not have access to technology and the internet in order to allow them to be able to contact relatives, or use the internet for studying. In the next upcoming months, we found and donated computer setups to local charities in the bay area, such as Clarahouse.
One might ask why I decided to create the company in the first place, and my response would be that I realized that there was more to society that the little bubble that I live in called home. There are many people in this world who do not have access to technology due to various reasons, and in this day and age, this limited access puts them at a disadvantage to the rest of society. The internet is much larger than it has been in the past, and there are many opportunities available to anyone who can access it.
What makes our company different is that we are donating more high-quality computer setups than other tech-related nonprofit organizations. For example, your average tech nonprofit company would try to put out as many computers as possible. However, we would instead create high quality computers instead of mass-producing lower quality ones. The reason we are doing this is because we are hoping that our setups would last for many years to allow people to use it for much longer than average.
Today, it can be said that society as we know it runs on the internet. Education, jobs, and friendships are all on the internet, which is why it is important to have as many people connected to this as possible. If they aren’t, they are missing out on a whole part of our society and would be less “fit” for society, which is why we are addressing this problem. Our goal is to allow everyone to have an even playing field by donating computer setups to those who would benefit from them.
